I work with different text types in German and English. I read them, translate them, read them again and correct them. To me, the functionality and beauty of a text are closely connected to its precision and aesthetics.
​
I am interested in novels and short stories,
non-fiction literature and movies.
Translating texts and creating subtitles, it is paramount to me to aim for a maximum degree of authenticity in the target language.
This is my key ambition.
​
I also like to wrap my head around academic and legal issues. When I translate legal texts and proofread academic theses, I am concerned with the topmost precision of facts and language.
That's the reason why close communication with my clients is of utmost importance to me.
​
After all, working with languages is always interpersonal communication and social interaction.
In order to share your world view and perspectives with others in a relatable and authentic way,
you can never be too careful and accurate.
Literary and Media Translation
I am especially fond of English
and (North) American literature.
As a consequence, I am experienced in translating English and US American
novels and short stories, and in formulating criticism of literary translations.

I have published book projects in the field of art and urban culture;
among others, with the Newzealand artist Matthew Cowan (published by Kehrer Verlag Berlin/Heidelberg),
and as part of the Heidelberg METROPOLINK Festival of Urban Art, with more than 18 renowned international artists so far.
I translate (and transcreate) subtitles for movie productions and TV series
and create time stamps in order to show
and hide them accurately.

In collaboration with the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg,
I've been working so far with filmmakers and production companies
from 13 countries on four different continents in the past three years.
Legal Translation
I received special training at the University of Mainz at the FTSK Germersheim
in the translation of legal texts
from English to German.
​
I am experienced in translating contract formulars, articles of association and general terms and conditions of business.
I am yet to be certified as a translator for legal documents, diplomas and decisions
at the Heidelberg district court
of Baden-Württemberg,
but the certification is under way.
Copy Editing and Proofreading
You can hire me for copy editing and proofreading of academic final theses in German and English in the fields of social, cultural and natural sciences.

I am meticulously concerned with orthographical and grammatical correctness, and consistency in structure,
style and register.
Regardless of Master's thesis, PhD letter or dissertation — my collaborations so far have always resulted in top grades.
